About this conversion
Turning a PDF back into an editable Word document is useful when you've been sent a PDF but need to change the text — updating a template, fixing a typo, or reusing content in a new document. This tool extracts the PDF's text layer and rebuilds it as a DOCX you can open and edit in Word, Google Docs or Pages.
The conversion runs on your own device, so even sensitive PDFs stay private. Text, font sizes, bold styling and paragraph structure carry over well; very complex layouts come through as flowing text you may need to tidy. Scanned PDFs — which are images, not text — will need OCR, which is on our roadmap.

Why does my scanned PDF fail?
Scans are photographs of pages — there's no text to extract. OCR support is on our roadmap; until then, use PDF to JPG to get the pages as images.
Is it safe to convert confidential PDFs?
Safer than any upload-based converter: the PDF is parsed entirely inside your browser and neither the file nor its text ever leaves your device.
